Are you looking for how to be happy?
If you want to be happy, be.
– Leo Tolstoy
Who Was Leo Tolstoy?
Leo Tolstoy (affiliate link) was a Russian writer and is regarded as one of the greatest writers of all time. He is the author of War and Peace among many others.
How to Be Happy
There are a lot of people in the world who aren’t happy. They always have their reasons.
They say they want to be happy, but they can’t because they don’t have enough money or whatever else their reason might be.
Most people think they will be happy when they have more money, a better job, or find the right person. All things outside of themselves and out of their control.
Happiness Isn’t Out There
Money won’t make you happy. There are plenty of millionaires and billionaires who are completely miserable.
People with great, or at least well-paying, jobs are miserable because they are so stressed out all the time.
You buy a new car because you think that will make you happy. You get it home and are happy for a little while, but after the newness wears off you are right back where you started.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
Happiness is an Inside Job
There is only one person who cam make you happy, and that’s you. Happiness is a decision that you make each and every moment of each and every day.
Take Mr. Tolstoy’s advice on how to be happy. Just be.
If you think about it, what reason do you have to be unhappy right now?
Most of the things that people worry about are either in the past or in the future. The past is done and gone. There’s nothing you can do about it now. The future is just a fantasy. Most of the things people worry about in the future never happen, so why worry about them?
Just be in the present. Chances are that everything is OK right now, so allow yourself to be happy right now. Right now is all there is.
