What Is Success?

What is success to you? What does it take?
What is success? Today's quote of the day from Pelé makes it very clear

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing.

– Pelé

Who Is Pelé?

Pelé is a retired Brazilian professional football (soccer) player who achieved international fame. He is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time.

What is Success?

Pelé makes it pretty clear. He gives us the whole recipe.

  • hard work
  • perseverance
  • learning
  • studying
  • sacrifice
  • love of what you’re doing

You can’t get much clearer than that.

A Context

My business is internet network marketing. A lot of people start network marketing businesses but few succeed. Why?
They don’t spend time learning and studying and then put in the hard work to succeed.
Part of the problem is that some network marketers lure people in saying, “it isn’t selling” and a bunch of other lies or deceptions. These are the people who make network marketing look like a scam.
You have to sell. Everything is selling.
At a young age Pelé sold Brazil on the idea that he could play soccer. If you’ve ever had a job working for someone else, you sold them on the idea that you could do the job.
Anyway, I’m getting off track.
If you want to succeed in network marketing, soccer, or anything else, you have to do the things that Pelé said.

Recipe for Success

Decide what you want to do then devote yourself to it. Study and learn everything you can about it.
You have to make sacrifices, usually in the form of time. You might give up the time you used to watch TV or hanging out with friends at a party or whatever.
Your goal comes first.
Then you just stick to it. Think like an alligator or crocodile. Once they have something they don’t let go. No matter what comes up. That’s perseverance.

Bonus Quote

Here’s one that’s relevant to this topic.

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

– Napoleon Hill
